Year 1993 to 1995 Alvin helps his father in a linguistic work with SIL. But he found in his heart to be more involved in community outreach.
He volunteered with an organization doing relief operations work in different communities after going back to Cotabato City. While volunteering, Alvin also studied to be a radio communications operator and worked as a part time language helper.
Right after finishing his studies, he immediately took up the board examination landing in the third (3rd) place. Alvin started his career as an anchor for Magindanon Radio program in Cotabato City funded by a FEBC. Then Alvin decided to resign from the radio station after a year and a half of involvement. Not long after the resignation, he accepted an offer to help the group of researchers for Linguistic work. Alvin was into the said Linguistic work for more than five (5) years. However, right in the middle of the work, he and his wife felt strongly to go back to their own community to serve among their people. It was also around that time that he met Emo and Kathy Yango who arranged for his wife to be trained as a preschool teacher in preparation for their move.
Alvin, since he moved to their community has been serving God as a community leader involved in outreach. He leads three (3) other people as a consultant in Linguistic work. He also led his community in establishing and running a water project, a pre- school, and a goat raising project. He also facilitated other projects such as summer tutorials, sanitation, sports projects, and farming. On top of that, Alvin has also been a team leader of the Balebed Team - a team who is engaged in outreach program in the Cotabato basin.
